Introducing Charlie ✨
Foundervine started in 2018 as a small group of founders that shared a passion for entrepreneurship and technology. This community has become an important place for founders to connect, learn, grow and collaborate with each other.
And as such, we wanted to introduce you to members of our team so you can get to know who we are, what we do and how we can help you on your journey.
So what’s your name?
My name is Charles Martin and I’m one of the Program Executives at Foundervine.
How long have you been with the team and what caused you to join?
I joined the team in May 2020. I joined because whilst I think the start-up ecosystem has achieved some amazing things I think that it is fundamentally unequal. Not only is this morally wrong, it also limits the capacity & scope we, as a society, have to innovate. Innovation comes when different viewpoints rub together, without these different viewpoints we limit our potential.
When you are not with Foundervine, what do you do?
A range of things. I’m currently finishing my master’s at Imperial. I’m also the founder and editor of the futurist a tech-focussed online publication & co-founder & COO at a proptech company called moove which is aiming to disrupt the lettings industry. Alongside this, I like to travel whenever I can & managed to slip away to Cambodia during term this year when a module got cancelled.
Any side hustles? What are the key things you want the Vine Community to know about you?
Yes, my main side hustles are listed above. Alongside these, I have also worked in a volunteering capacity for several political parties (Liberal Democrats & Renew) in various roles, including campaigning & policy work. ⚡️
What’s your plan for the next 5 years?
I plan to be associated with technology in some capacity, most likely this will be in either a VC role or a tech investment bank. Alongside this I want to be using that to do good things; in particular, continuing to assist with Foundervine work & making the innovation space more open & more efficient.
